ABOUT TRUTH:

The title comes from one of the tracks in particular, however It was a theme I discovered to be running throughout the whole album – truths in relationship, about society, in nature or even the lack there of to be found online and in corruption. This wasn't so much a conscious decision as it was a happy accident, but I thought it fitting title for the project.

The album cover incorporates a drawing I did back when I was at school, forming the word 'Truth' from pieces of rusty metal discovered in my garden.

I am excited for this to be out in the world and I hope that It speaks positive truths into the lives of those who hear it.

Aurora (Feat. Abi Blake) – Single (Jan 2024)

This is the first single from a new body of work I have been creating. It is a raw and reflective number which sits somewhere between my Journey Songs and Freedom Today in style.

The character in the song imagines the northern lights from the distance of ordinary life. The aurora is personified in its kindness and beauty, not scowling like a storm – but rather showing us hope regardless of the mess we cause the world or troubles we face.

The song also features the pure and wonderful harmonies of my friend Abi Blake as well as bass playing from James Torbitt of Outbound!

Freedom Today (Sept 2023)

Originally created as my final university project, 'Freedom Today' is my first independently written and produced album.

I undertook this project to see how I could fuse two sides of my creative practice: organic, folk-influenced songwriting and technology driven studio-based composition. I have endeavoured to explore methods by which technologies can produce organic sounding results which compliment the simplicity of my songwriting.

I hope you enjoy listening to the album, I greatly enjoyed creating it!

Journey Songs

Journey Songs Pt.2 (Jan 2023)

Returning to the studio with William Jacobs, we set out to record my next 4 'Journey Songs'. These are thematically and musically darker than the first collection. The charm in recording these live performances of simple arrangements is that they capture a sense of immediacy. This best reflects the stages of my journey and how the songs are written in amongst the changing emotions of daily life.

For continuity Jacobs chose to record using the same space and setup as before. The cover also features my artwork of a derelict stone barn in the Yorkshire Dales.

Journey Songs Pt.1 (2022)

The first installation of my 'Journey Songs' EP saga. These acoustic songs are kept simple and intimate in their presentation. I performed these live as they would be heard in a pub – just me and my guitar. The resulting focus is on song-craft and the lyrics. Stylistically, they pay homage to my love of 60s/70s folk artists like Nick Drake, John Martyn and Joni Mitchell. They were recorded and produced by the talented William Jacobs - check his website out here!

The cover features my artwork of a winding hill climb made with my family on a trip to the Scottish borders... Certainly was a journey! On Saturday the 13th August 2022, the title track 'Journey Song' was was aired on BBC Radio Suffolk's introducing show and chosen as track of the week!
